Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Jeep In Suffolk

A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a Jeep on Long Island.

It happened at approximately 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Melville.

David Vilaca, 26, of Melville, was crossing Route 110 from west to east, near Fletcher Place, against the light when he was struck by the 2016 Jeep Renegade, Suffolk County Police said.

Vilaca was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for the treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the Jeep, Bradley Zucker, 22, of West Babylon, and a female passenger were not injured.

The Jeep was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
